What is the approximate number of applicants each year?

No information is available. However, the number of applicants has increased substantially in recent years. This is evident from two factors:

1. AIPMT is conducted as a two-tier examination since 2010 in order to minimize the potential number of candidates for final examination.
2. Many tutorials that initially specialized in IIT coaching have started a separate wing for AIPMT in recent years. Resonance & Career point can be named specifically in this regard.

What is the total number of seats available in all institutions under PMT (till 2010 and now in 2011)?

Total number of seats for MBBS as per approval of Medical council of India is 35583. (http://www.mciindia.org/InformationDesk/MedicalCollegeHospitals/ListofCollegesTeachingMBBS.aspx). Total number of seats for BDS as approved by Dental Council of India is approximately 24,000. (http://www.dciindia.org/search.aspx).AIPMT is being conducted exclusively for the 15% merit positions for the Medical/Dental Colleges of India.

What are the subjects required to be prepared for PMT?

What is the latest exam pattern? What are the latest question patterns?

Final Examination:

(Only for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination).
The Final Examination would consist of one paper containing 120 objective type questions(four
options with single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to
be answered on the specially designed machine gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only.
The duration of paper would be 3 hours.

LANGUAGE OF THE QUESTION PAPERS

Do students from any particular board earn advantage in PMT?

The syllabus of AIPMT is almost similar to that of CBSE examination. Thus, students of CBSE boards earn advantage in this examination. For reference, the syllabus of AIPMT can be tallied with that of CBSE.

How do most of the students prepare – through tutorials or self study?

For PMT correct, focused and schematic tuition is essential. The format mainly consists of topic based advanced information followed by topic based questions. Regular mock tests is also an essential part of the preparation.
